Deb Hawkes
South Amana, Iowa
Deb Hawkes is a life long resident of Amana. She grew up observing Amana’s artists and craftsmen at their work. She learned to knit, crochet, along with other needle arts sitting at her Oma’s knee and learned Amana rug weaving at a rug class held at the Amana Arts Guild. Deb keeps the Amana culture alive in her work, choosing traditional materials, colors and techniques for her projects. Deb was instrumental in growing the Amana Arts Guild during her tenure as the Amana Arts Guild Administrator from 2011-2022.

It has been a fulfilling opportunity to work with the Amana Arts Guild. I have enjoyed working with and encouraging the talented and diverse artists in our community.
