My early years were spent as a sign painter, silk screen printer and commercial artist. This career path was good, my work even appeared in an industry publication and in news print. But this was the voice for someone’s monetary goals. There was a great deal more to art, but it was risky. I purchased an assortment of oil paints, there was a message to give from the heart. Storytelling with a brush more like.

Tamra and I spent time in Munich, Germany as part of our honeymoon vacation. There, I came face to face with the likes of Rubens, Rembrandt and Durer. What a powerful impact on my artistic direction.

Really, my work is figurative and of a larger scale. But it is pleasant to relax with a small canvas and a landscape or a still life after a months long work is done. I like to say Amana has become my art home.
