Becca Bunce

Becca Bunce

Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Becca is a life-long lover of arts and crafts, having grown up with incredibly gifted, creative, and generous women. Her mother introduced Becca to sewing, fiber arts, and paper crafts at a young age. As a kid, she would spend hours in her mother’s sewing room sorting through buttons, flipping through patterns, and studying fabric design. Becca began sewing in earnest in 2006 creating quilts for her daughters, friends, and family members.

Becca’s love of watercolor is a more recent development; a silver lining emerging from the pandemic of 2020. When the world shut down, Becca turned to art and it became her ultimate escape. Her first attempt at painting with watercolor was a rainbow. She still has that painting today and loves it dearly.

Artist’s Statement

My art education is on-going and self-curated. I’ve learned so much through online tutorials, instructional workbooks, and art supply websites. I am grateful to artists Sarah Cray, Jenna Rainy, Ellen Crimi-Trent and Jean Haines for their practical and down-to-earth approach to watercolor and painting.
My favorite subjects to paint are botanicals, rainbows, and food. I love working with glitter, pens, and markers to create mixed-water media and mixed media art. Supplies I keep on hand are Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors, Arches cold pressed watercolor paper, Pigma Micron pens and Princeton Snap! brushes. I create art in my home studio in Cedar Rapids. I welcome inquiries and can be contacted through my website beccabunceart.com.
